the rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. the whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. people in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world"s resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. a baby born in the united states will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world"s resources than a baby born in india. unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population e_plosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.
for most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. for e_ample, china has carried out birth control for years. and this plan has a great effect on the world population.
if the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don"t do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. by protecting nature, we protect ourselves.

at 7:45 a.m., i open the doors to a building dedicated to building, yet only breaks me down. i march down hallways cleaned up after me every day by regular janitors, but i never have the decency to honor their names. lockers left open like teenage boys" mouths when teenage girls wear clothes that covers their insecurities but e_poses everything else. masculinity mimicked by men who grew up with no fathers, camouflage worn by bullies who are dangerously armed but need hugs. teachers paid less than what it costs them to be here. oceans of adolescents come here to receive lessons but never learn to swim, part like the red sea when the bell rings.
this is a training ground. my high school is chicago, diverse and segregated on purpose. social lines are barbed wire. labels like "regulars" and "honors" resonate. i am an honors but go home with regular students who are soldiers in territory that owns them. this is a training ground to sort out the regulars from the honors, a reoccurring cycle built to recycle the trash of this system.
trained at a young age to capitalize, letters taught now that capitalism raises you but you have to step on someone else to get there. this is a training ground where one group is taught to lead and the other is made to follow. no wonder so many of my people spit bars, because the truth is hard to swallow. the need for degrees has left so many people frozen.
homework is stressful, but when you go home every day and your home is work, you don"t want to pick up any assignments. reading te_tbooks is stressful, but reading does not matter when you feel your story is already written, either dead or getting booked. taking tests is stressful, but bubbling in a scantron does not stop bullets from bursting.
i hear education systems are failing, but i believe they"re succeeding at what they"re built to do -- to train you, to keep you on track, to track down an american dream that has failed so many of us all.

cambodia, as a result of this, has sent out a call to the united states, to a number of other nations, for assistance. because if this enemy effort succeeds, cambodia would become a vast enemy staging area and a springboard for attacks on south vietnam along 600 miles of frontier: a refuge where enemy troops could return from combat without fear of retaliation. north vietnamese men and supplies could then be poured into that country, jeopardizing not only the lives of our own men but the people of south vietnam as well.

it’s smile. there is a kindness called smile. it is the most beautiful language in the world. it can make distance no distance. "just awake the students with a smiling face!"i said to myself.
the ne_t day, when i stood on the stage with a smiling face, when i asked the questions with a smile, when i encouraged the children in a friendly way, the students were just shocked! but i could find there was more happiness and e_citement in their eyes! gradually, they got used to it, and participated in my teaching. as i predicted, that class became a lovely one. i was moved, and said"thank you for listening, boys and girls!"

happiness passed by love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when love called her.
suddenly, there was a voice, "come, love, i will take you." it was an elder. so blessed and overjoyed, love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. when they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. realizing how much was owed the elder, love asked knowledge, another elder, "who helped me?"
"it was time," knowledge answered.
"time?" asked love. "but why did time help me?"
knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "because only time is capable of understanding how valuable love is."
