the man who is working is the happiest one in the world, no matter in which period. that’s a truth the book ordinary world wants to tell us. it’s loudly gives out the slogan, as a human, despair the position, as long as you have a burning heart, you will beloved by the life. everybody in the world should love their work. one can be ordinary, but can not be mediocre. only be a worker, and use one’s sincere heart to taste the life and experience, can we truly being alive. we have only one life. this is a book written by life. there is a kind of ordinary sound flood in the earth and universe.

the book’s time span lasts from the 1975 to 1985, the turbulent years in chinese history. the story happened in a small village called shuangshui village. almost the whole book is describe the life and people in shuangshui village. during that ten years, the cultural revolution has came to an end, deng xiaoping came into power,a new mode of production-- household contract responsibility system with remuneration linked to output has came out. all of these changes lead to the happen of the story. shungshui village and it’s people is just like a miniature picture of the whole china and it’s people. the book included every aspect of the society that time. lu yao wanted to use a kind of realism style of writing to draw the outline of a great social picture scroll. in the scroll, everyone in different stratum is lifelike in both characters and features. this is an important point, because of lu yao ‘s consummate novel skill and the deadly serious writing attitude, this novel turned into one of the best teacher aids of that period history.

the pedagogical meaning i get from this book is a kind of profound understanding to the peasant in our own country. the younger generation in the modern city is very hard to figure out the meaning of this point, because they are far away from the real country life. peasants’ life, peasants’ thought ,the days peasant’s had and now and the future, all of these are quite unfamiliar to most of us. then this book can be regarded as a bridge, we can indirectly gain a better understanding of the real country from this book and that’s the function of books. the book perfectly draw a picture of that time, it reflects the pleasure, the anger, the sorrow, and the passions of the peasants. after finished the book, we can say we experienced that period in one sense. we had ever worked in a filed, the sweat poured like rains from our face and we had ever loved someone ,lost someone. all of these cane from the book. the practical significance of the book sets on the current situation and historic continuity of china; sets on the hope of the future and the development of our young generation; sets on the understanding of china and the people.

on the other hand, i do really like lu yao’s starting point---ordinary world. their world is ordinary, this is just one of the tens of thousands of villages in loess plateau. but lu yao have seen the character out of the common in the protagonists. take sun shaoping as an example, he had a secondary education and through a self-study came to a undergraduate level. the author put many excellent qualities to this leading role. all the roles in lu yao’s novel are ordinary people, but all the marvelous characters in their body made them different.

life is an outward journey and there is not much time for us to squander, to grieve or to feel depressed. it will be spineless to give up our hope. just like the famous sentence “though the torches is drooping, the fire is burning up”。 even the most ordinary people should fight for his life.

a tale of two cities is one of dickens"s most important representative works. long before writing a tale of two cities, dickens is very concern on the french revolution, reread the british historian, carlyle"s "french revolution" and other scholar"s related works. his strong interest of the french revolution began in the british lurking at the time the concerns of the serious social crisis. at the end of 1854, he said: "i believe that dissatisfaction like smoke fire up worse than, this special like the public before the french revolution for the first time, it"s danger, for one thousand kinds of reasons, such as poor harvest, the nobility of bossy and incompetent the already tense situation last to defeat in war, overseas and domestic events and so on -- into that have never seen a terrible fire." visible, a tale of two cities of the historical novel creation motive sees, in the history of the french revolution experience for reference, to the bell of the ruling class; at the same time, through the extreme portrayal of the revolutionary terrorist, also to harbor resentment, attempting to violence against the tyranny of the masses, warned that fantasy for the status quo of social contradictions increasingly deepen to find a way out.

starting from this purpose, the novel profoundly revealed before the french revolution deeply intensified the social contradictions, strongly criticized aristocracy dissolute brutal, and deep sympathy for the lower people"s suffering. work pointedly said, the people"s patience is limited, under the cruel rule of the noble class, the people under the livelihood, is bound to fight. this kind of resistance is justice. novel in people"s uprising against the bastille, etc, was also depicted spectacular scenes, shows the great power of the people. however, author station on the bourgeois humanitarian grounds, namely against brutal tyranny which oppressed the people, people also objected to revolt against the tyranny of the violence. in charles dickens, the revolution is portrayed as a great disaster of destruction, it ruthlessly punish evil gentry class, also kill innocent people blindly.

the novel created three types of characters. category is urban mr monte marquis brother as a representative of the feudal aristocracy, they only unshakable philosophy is "oppression", is the author of pain and flay object. another kind is to cut stone couples, such as the revolutionary masses. it must be pointed out that their image is distorted. such as cutting stone wife, diana, she was born in peasant, insulted, persecution of the feudal nobles with great hatred, the author deeply sympathize with her misery, really appreciated her strong personality, before and after the revolution, excellent talents and extraordinary leadership ability; but when revolution is further thorough, a pen and put her as a ruthless, fierce, narrow avenger. especially when her to the doctor house raids dasey, "and the path is characterized by more bloodthirsty men. finally, the author let her die under his muzzle, makes it clear that the negative attitude. the third kind is ideal character, the author thinks to humanitarian resolving social contradictions, in order to love overcome hatred, including speech, father and daughter, darnay, unquestioned and carl"s, etc. meini, the doctor is marquis brother may have caused the destruction of the marquis brother with great hatred, but for the sake of her daughter"s love, can abandon the old feud hate; darnay is marquis brother"s sons and nephews, his big end, condemn the sin of his family abandoned the rank of nobility and property, are determined to "sin" with their own actions. this to reflect the character of each other, one is the victim of the aristocratic tyranny and tolerance for pregnant; one is the successor to the noble marquis, advocate benevolence. among them, more as a daughter and wife ". hold in the bond of love, they form a mutual understanding, emotion harmonious happy family. this is obviously the author thought a violent revolution and the opposite way out of resolving social contradictions, is unrealistic.

a tale of two cities is different from general historical novel, its character and the main plot are imaginary. during the french revolution broad real background, the author clues to give priority to with fictional characters meini, doctor"s experience, the unjust charge three independent each other, love and revenge and interconnected stories interweave together, intricate plot, intricate plot. the author take the flashbacks, interleave technique such as, stage, bedding, make the novel complete structure, tense and dramatic plot twists and turns, showed excellent artistic skills. a tale of two cities style solemn, depressed, etc, but the lack of humor early works.

as we all know, charles dickens" novel a tale of two cities is a novel based on the french revolution in the late 1800s. in that terrible time, every moment was full of great fear. before that great revolution, the common people, especially the peasants, were poor, hungry and unhappy. the king and the noble men maltreated the poor in many ways but they had never felt a little ashamed, on the contrary they thought they could do bad things in the nature of things.

as an outstanding writer, in dickens"s work, the language skill is essential. each kind of rhetoric technique, like the analogy, the exaggeration, the contrast, the humorous, and the taunt are handled skillfully and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak. a tale of two cities has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes. with the broad real background of the french revolution, the author take the fictional character doctor nanette’s experience as the main clue, interweaves the unjust charge, love and revenge three independences but also incident cross-correlation stories together, and the clue is complex. the author use narrates, foreshadowing, upholstery and so many techniques, causes the structure integrity and strictness, the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature, it displayed the remarkable artistic skill. the style a tale of two cities is solemnity and melancholy, fills indignation, but lacks the humor of the early works.

besides, this novel criticizes the violence and oppression in the society. in this novel, the author not only expresses his humanitarianism on the love between human beings, but also expresses his view according to his critics to the violence and oppression in that society. the author expresses his opinion on two parts. first, he criticizes the aristocrats, esp. the representative marquis of evremonde. second, he also criticizes the revolutionaries in the french revolution. however, when we see from the description of the couple, the author does not think high of the revolution. when the revolutionaries begin their revenge, the author describes that everyone is terrible, the man is terrible, the woman crazy, and there is not a human creature at that time. we can see although the author does not show his agreement to the aristocrats’ cruelty, he does not like the bloody revolution, either.

what is more, this novel advocates the christian love and self-sacrifice. charles dickens" novel a tale of two cities is essentially a tale of love, sacrifice, and, most importantly, resurrection. dr. manette, charles darnay, and sydney carton, all desperate men leading catastrophic lives, make great sacrifices in order to attain true physical, spiritual, and societal resurrection for themselves and the ones they love. in this novel, the author portrays some typical characters that embody the author’s view. first, he portrays some kind, upright and humane persons, such as dr. manette, lucie manette, mr. lorry, etc. but at the same time, he also portrays some cruel and ferocious persons, such as the marquis of evremonde brothers, mr. and mrs. defarge. he uses these characters to make a contrast, which clearly expresses his view. in short, what he was trying to express is that everyone can love each other and sacrifice for others. so sydney carton is the supreme embodiment of charles dickens’ humanitarianism.

ultimately, a tale of two cities is essentially a tale of love, sacrifice, and most importantly, resurrection. through personal sacrifices or sacrifices for those who they loved, it shows the human’s virtue and integrity. by struggling for, hunting for, and sacrificing for a better life, all of the main characters are forever resurrected in the hearts of those they love forever.

overall, charles dickens is a humanitarian. and according to the analysis of the characters in a tales of two cities, we can see that the author advocates the universal love and equality between human beings. and this is the basic element in a peaceful and harmonious society. everyone should love people and only the humanitarianism can improve this situation. and a tale of two cities is the best work, which embodies his humanitarianism. so that we can see that charles dickens is an outstanding humanitarian of the capitalistic reformism in the 19th century.

henry david thoreau (1817-1862), the author of walden, was born in concord, massachusetts. when he was a child, he always went to the woods and field with his old brother. so he loves the nature very much. in the middle of 19th century, american economies developed so rapidly that most people pursuit the material life and ignore the spiritual life. but thoreau wants to live a simple life. also for the transcendentalist movement was centered in concord and emerson had a great influence on him. all these made thoreau go to build a cabin on the shore of walden pond and live alone to close to the nature in 1845. later, he wrote the famous book, walden, which mainly talks about his life and thoughts during he lived alone in the woods near walden pond.

when walden was published in 1854, it was not well accepted by people. instead it was regarded as.

he also writes that though he lives alone in the woods, he is close to nature and makes himself as a part of nature. he lives alone, but sometimes he also talks with his visitors who are honest, sincere, thinkable and loving their life.

thoreau also mentions that the noise in the town and the whistle of train disturb the quite life of the town. however, in the woods life is quite. when he lives in the woods, he can listen to animals" sounds such as bird"s singing, owl’s hooting, cockerel’s crowing etc. he lives with animals friendly. he also describes the walden pond. the water, blue and green, clear and pure, freezes in winter and melts in spring.

when i was reading walden, i felt that i was listening to a wise man’s talking. the words and phrases about the nature especially the walden pond are beautiful and fascinating. the sentences are full of wisdom and philosophy.

reading this book re

minds me of those people who work hard to earn money, waste lots of money to buy luxury and expensive things, waste time to entertain themselves. in my point of view, they may easily lose themselves, and though their bodies are full, their minds are hungry. the real life is to make every complicate thing to be simple and enrich our heart and soul. in a word, just simplicity 、simplicity and simplicity!

one of thoreau"s thoughts about solitude attracts me deeply for i’m the person who likes to be alone. there are some reasons for why i like to be alone: firstly i think that living with others is easy going to have a conflict whatever you are best friends. secondly just as thoreau saying ‘a man thinking or working always alone and let him be where he will’. i always spent most of time to study, and i like to make myself busy all the time, so i have little time to stay with others. in addition to, what

i"m thinking and interested in is quite different from others. i like studying at library and reading books but don"t like pursuit fashionable and new trend things for it makes me feel tired and bored. so i always live alone and people who around me think i must be lonely. actually it"s not true. they don"t understand me at all. when i"m studying, learning or reading, i don"t think other things, just immersing in the ocean of knowledge .my heart is quite calm. and if learn new knowledge i got a feeling of happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment. so i was so surprised that what thoreau said was exactly same to what i thought. i was so glad to find a person who has the same idea with me. when thoreau lived alone in the woods, people did not understand him, even emerson thought what he did was wrong. and now, people who around me think my life is not good. but i think thoreau’s life was successful, meaningful and happy, so do i. because i think that the success and happiness of life all come

from exactly value. everyone deeply desires of themselves life. when you know what the value of yourself is, meanwhile you can enjoy your life according to the value every time. you will find that everyday you have full of energy and enthusiasm to do anything, hear the sure sound from your heart, and often feel intense achievement, the most important is that your heart is peace and calm.

last but not least, i envy thoreau so much for he lives in such a beautiful and comfortable nature environment. he can breathe the fresh air, live with wild animal friendly; appreciate the scenery of walden pond etc. while in modern society, people pursuit their own interests to hunt and kill animals, cut down trees and pollute the rivers and so on. as a result, the number of wildlife is decreasing, the area of lake is shrinking, and the water is not pure any more. the environment problems such as globe warming, climate change and air and water pollution have been becoming increasingly serious. reading this book makes me be aware of protecting the environment to realize the harmony between human and nature.

the concept of responsibility is a necessary fiction. although socities

must hold their individuals accountable for their own actions, people"s behavior is largely determined by forces not of their own making.

on one hand, the highest social animal as human being is, any individual has his specific role in a certain society. and this specific role gives one social identity and individual responsibility through education in schools and influence of ethical and moral standards. though some times one would feel that the certain responsibility is obligation from the society and organizations rather than his "individual responsibility" at first, in most cases, the accountability would presumably become one"s own eventually followed by the final identification of his specific social identity, and then direct one"s behaviors without the force from the exterior world. for example, a soldier would think it is his duty to obey the rules without any hesitation; a surgeon would consider healing the patients as his

accountability; and a historian would feel it is his responsibility to discover what is behind the historical descriptions. in fact, different careers and roles form diverse individual responsibilities, which result in individuals’voluntary behaviors.

on the other hand, there are not only specific individual responsibilities in diverse areas but also some fundamental values and accountabilities, which we all human beings cherish. from the moment one can speak or even is born, the society begins to instill the moral and ethical standards, which is so called humanity in every one"s mind. the older one is, the deeper influence the humanity would be. when one is just a little child, he would go directly to what he like and claim it. then when he is old enough, he would realize that it is incorrect and ashamed. and because of the awareness of what is right and wrong, one would probably never do any misdeed again. actually, humanity is just the common individual responsibility shared by all of us.

however, every one lives in a certain society thereby one"s behavior is more or less influenced by forces not of their own making. and to operate normally, every society has its laws, though many times have differences among them. it is true that humanity plays an essential role in ruling individuals" behaviors; yet laws are necessary. under the control of laws, people who have little individual responsibility would probably not dare to do any crime in fear of law punishment. besides laws, for example in school, rules are also an important factor as well as individual responsibility. nowadays, in most universities, a student who does not pass some certain courses in his four years college life would not get his diploma of bachelor"s degree. so even if a student does not like his discipline, or dose not care about his gpa, the pressure of graduating forces him not to playing computer or basketball all the time.

in addition, individual responsibility and forces from outside world have overlapped parts some times. for instance, studying diligently is some hard- working students" individual responsibility as well as the pressure from schools and society.

generally speaking, it is hasty and incorrect to conclude that the concept of "individual responsibility" is a necessary fiction. on the contrary, individual responsibility plays an important role which cannot be replaced. however, laws and the exterior force also have their significance as well. thus we can not put either of them aside and pay more attention to another

although i may not understand thoreau"s thoughts completely, i’m really benefited from reading the book, walden.

today, i was read the book which called the adventures of tom sawyer. this story is about a clever boy called tom sawyer.

i think tom sawyer is a brave boy. he always gives his friends courage in danger and he tries his best to help other people.

of course we know, tom is a very naughty boy, and his aunt polly is often angry with him. but i think he also is a good boy. he always can make other people happy.

people always grow, besides height, body has grown stronger, and people s thoughts are long. your view on the world is different, sensible, and no longer childish. but people are getting better. don"t like the adventures of the ruthless villains, and his quest do bad, people see people hate. but at last he still las toman, got a starved to death in the cave.

after reading the adventures of tom sawyer, i really envy tom to have such an interesting experience. it seems this book with relish, and even sleepless nights.

i believe that one of the factors that makes a piece of literature or even a movie a masterpiece is how well the reader can relate to the story. this is definitely a book everyone can relate to.

the adventures of tom sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author mark twain. tom sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the mississippi river called st. petersburg. the story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in tom sawyer"s life.

tom sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as dennis the menace, malcolm in the middle, and calvin and hobbs. what makes this story great is that tom sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. the book is filled with tom"s adventures playing pirates and war with his friend joe harper. tom has a trusted friend, huck finn, who few of the adults approve of. the book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. it is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. the whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.

the book is a little difficult to read at first. personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. other than referring to persons of african decent in derogatory terms (which i"m sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. i highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

the first impression that the boy tom gave me was a naughty, mischievous boy, just as what aunt polly said. he never lacked the curiosity to explore new places, sometimes even risking his life, which i did not dare to! there were some great adventures of him with huck or joe. huck was an orphan, and joe was tom’s classmate. everybody in the small village knew tom, mainly for tom’s—you know kind of gallantry!

i should tell you the adventures. the origin of the attempt was that tom and huck was getting curious to the world of outside, and they made an effort to run-away. however, when they were in the graveyard, some people appeared. they were injun joe, huck’s father, named potter, and a doctor. tom and huck quickly hid behind the bush, and they saw them digging the coffins out, probably finding something valuable. they did not realize that what they witnessed was a murder! tom and huck were extremely afraid, and they ran away rapidly. on the court, potter was being accused of the murderer; however, tom declared that it was injun joe who used potter’s knife to kill the young doctor. on hearing this, injun joe broke the glass and ran away! this scared everybody, and tom’s brother, sid, said that he always heard tom mumbling something when he was asleep, and sometimes even shouting. indeed, the accident was fluttering everybody in the town with fear.

before, tom once fell in love with a girl called lawrence. and he showed off in front of the girl, trying to win the girl’s heart, but lawrence ignored tom’s appearance, and it made tom sad. at present, tom went for another girl for becky. yet, when becky knew that tom once loved lawrence (it was probably childish thoughts), she refused tom. tom got so depressed that he resolutely committed the second escape.

he made contact with huck and joe that afternoon, about where to meet, the code words of meeting, and the route, and so on and so forth. each of them brought some food, and huck brought some pipes (remind that huck had no real home, and i had no ideas where he got the things). at midnight, they met at the place, and they took a raft down the river. after drifting for about several hours, they finally reached the destiny. there they lived for about several weeks, and while everybody thought they were drowned, they had a great time. they were no problems of food or water shortages. they promised to be a pirate, and would live there forever.

if you were out from your relatives for a long time, wouldn’t you miss home? it was the same for those children. after several weeks, joe felt that he missed home very much, and tom could not seem to stop him. on this, tom brought joe and huck his secret—

on one night, when the rest of the boys fell asleep (of course they slept outside), tom crept from the camp, and headed toward the town. he sneaked to his aunt’s room, and hid under the bed, while everybody- mary (tom’s sister), sid, aunt polly and joe harper’s mother were having a meeting. there were a lot of tears, about how the boys were killed, and how they would treat the boys if they ever lived again, such things. tom almost wanted to get out of the bed and hug aunt polly, but he couldn’t. at last, everybody went to sleep. tom went out from the bed, and flew to the camp. that was the secret— that the boys will go to their own funeral!

while the boys were outside, all of the people in the town were discussing about the accidents. the town was immediately covered with a sense of doom. so the funeral was raised. everybody wore a black suit, and they prayed something along with the priest. just then, they saw somebody entering the gate, and what they saw was unbelievable. three young souls came out from their coffins and showed up in front of everybody! the change of the atmosphere was imaginable. aunt polly, joe harper’s mother, mary and sid were astounded to find that tom came so vivid in front of them, and so tom and joe became a hero in the school, even in the town.

the real adventures of tom were finding the treasures.

i"ve just fininshed reading the first 4 harry potter books for about the 5th time through, and they"re just as magical and affecting as they have ever been. everything is in here: suspense, adventure, mystery, humour, danger. there"s even some pretty satisfying paybacks. the characters are fantastic and fantastically realistic. there are bad people who turn out to be good guys and good people who turn out to be bad guys, just like life.

i think the thing i like best about these books is the message that it"s okay to be different - to be not "normal." i would love for everyone in school to have hear that message. it would probably reduce the bullying around the school.

these books value real thoughts. much has been made of harry"s rule breaking, but only once in the series so far does he break a rule for arbitrary personal gain. most of the time he makes a decision that what"s right is more important than what"s written. and you know what? life"s like that sometimes. i think it"s great that kids are getting an example of how to do what"s right even when it involves breaking rules. the potter books also show that there are consequences for rule breaking. if not getting caught and getting a detention, then a spell going wrong and someone getting turned into a cat. this shows that when you make a decision to go against the rules that things may not go as you expected and you have to take responsibility for the outcome.

during the holiday, i read a book called pride and prejudice, which is very good-looking. it makes me feel a lot, and i also feel a lot.

pride and prejudice is the representative work of jane austen, a famous british writer. it describes the emotional entanglement between the arrogant single youth darcy and the prejudiced second miss elizabeth, the wealthy single aristocrat bingley and the virtuous first miss jane.

this book makes me realize that people should get along with each other harmoniously and dont misunderstand each other because of a small matter. we should also learn to understand each other, not because of other peoples provocation and constitute harm to others; learn to tolerate each other. make our society better.

this book also makes me feel that this pair of "arrogance" and "prejudice" have a happy marriage after many setbacks.

we should not give up because of a little setback. we should learn to persist. persistence is victory!

about the little prince

sometimes we choose life, but this life belongs to others. if we once did it,we would be terrible grown-upsmixing everything up together, confusing everything, and all day just say that“i’m busy with matters of consequence. ” i don’t want to be that kind of person!why not choose life of my own?

every time i’m reading the story, the idea becomes more and more strong. nothing is meaningful unless you put your love in it.

the little prince lives in the planet b-612 that isn’t any larger than a house. his life is simply with joy. one day,a beautiful angel was born among the simple flower that had only one rings of petals. she was totally a miracle at the sunrise. to the little prince, she was a very complex creature. he couldn’t help falling in love with the flower. but,as he said,he was too young to know how to love her. she always pretended to be proud to conceal her love. then he went away from his planet to search for something he needed. she didn’t blame him or urge him to stay. actually she wanted him to be happy. so she chose not to cry and let him go.

during his trip on the earth,he met the fox. at that time, the little prince was looking for men. but the fox beg of him to tame her because she used to live a monotonous life and wanted to have a friend. so,since then, the little prince sat a little closer to her day by day. thus, the little prince tamed the fox.

but the departure was coming. hadn’t it helped her in any way?yeah,it did help her. to each other, they had been unique in the world instead of other thousands of ordinary little boys and foxes!and to the fox,she owned the color of the wheatfield to remind her of the happiness with the little prince.

everything changed from the very beginning. and at last, the fox told the little prince her secret:

“it’s only with one’s heart that one can see clearly.

what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

then he understood,it was the time he spent on his flower which made his flower so important.

we may be one of these characters in the book. the flower, the fox,or the little prince. i mean that love and departure, misunderstanding and suddenly realizing are equally valuable.

when loving someone,we should be brave enough. try to make him happy even if so many tears have been added up to a deep sea.

when someone tames you,the world will be a fantastic wonderland. all other people are just alike, but only he is so unique. because of those moments of truth, you can see the spirit in this love. nothing can ever replace it.

it’s a story about life and love. furthermore, the little prince makes me understand the sweetness in sadness

the little prince a tale of love and life

despite i’ve not in my childhood yet, i still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. this summer i’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. it’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the french author, antoine de st-exupery, the little prince.

as many other fairy-tales, the outline of the little prince is not very complex. “i”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the sahara. in this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the asteroid b612. the little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. in that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

on his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the sahara, on the earth.

traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. at that time a fox appears. the fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, becomes his new friend. at the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. from that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

at the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. “it’s too far. i can not carry this body with me. it’s too heavy.” he said. he tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. at the end the author doesn’t tell us the ending directly. maybe it’s more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over.

one of the important characters is the rose. growing on the planet, she is very beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. in spite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy. on the time of his departure, he just knows she certainly loves him. the character of the little prince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. on the contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, the businessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in the grown-up’s world. the real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, i guess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but not others “matters of consequence” of the grown-ups.

unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot. i seldom think about the true meaning of love and life before. well, now i can say, with my short sixteen-year’s life experience, it’s like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. the little prince is not only an ordinary fairy-tale for children, but also for grown-ups, and our teenagers. nevertheless, when i read this book, i feel a little sad about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence

oliver twist, one of the most famous works of charles dickens", is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in britain in 18th century.

the author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in london.

the hero of this novel was oliver twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. he suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. while reading the tragic experiences of the little oliver, i was shocked by his sufferings. i felt for the poor boy, but at the same time i detested the evil fagin and the brutal bill. to my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and oliver lived a happy life in the end. one of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of mrs. maylie and rose and began a new life. he went for walks with them, or rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. he felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

how can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? the reason is the nature of goodness. i think it is the most important information implied in the novel by dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. although i don"t think goodness is omnipotent, yet i do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

for me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. goodness is to humans what water is to fish. he who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. on the contrary, as the famous saying goes, "the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose", he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. people receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

to my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. they look down on people"s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. as a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. on the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. in their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. if they cannot get profit from showing their "kindness", they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. they are one of the sorts that i really detest.

francis bacon said in his essay, "goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin."

that is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. therefore, i, a kind person, want to tell those "vermin-to-be"to learn from the kind oliver and regain the nature of goodness.
